Man feted for saving 2 kids from drowning
RAS AL KHAIMAH: Major General Ali Abdullah Bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, honoured Hisham Benelhaj in appreciation of his heroic role in saving two Arab brothers, 13 and 14, from drowning off one of the emirate’s beaches.
Valuing the work done by the Arab resident, which embodied a sublime image of humanity and courage, Al Nuaimi said he was proud of such honourable stances, which contributed to spreading the spirit of love and co-operation among members of the society.
The honouring reflects the keenness of the Ras Al Khaimah Police on motivating the public to follow suit, extend a helping hand to those in need and co-operate with the police and security authorities for maintaining the safety of community members, Al Nuaimi said.
Such commendable behaviour should strengthen bridges of communication and cooperation between the public and the official institutions, he added.
A recent report says: A delegation of Dubai Police senior officers surprised Keshur Kara Chavada Karu Ghela, an Indian national, at his workplace to honour him for his brave act in foiling a criminal’s atempt to rob a person’s bag containing Dhs2,757,158 (Dhs2.7 million) in Dubai.
Headed by Expert Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commandantin-chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs, the delegation included Major General Dr Adel Al Suwaidi, Director of Jebel Ali Police Station, Director of the Dubai Police Council of Police Stations Directors; Dr Major General Tariq Tahlak, Director of Naif Police Station; Brigadier Abdullah Khadim Sorour, Director of Bur Dubai Police Station, and a number of senior officers. Maj. Gen. Al Mansouri hailed Keshur who helped arrest the thief by tackling him and pinning him to the ground until the police patrols arrived.
He further lauded the young man’s efforts and courage in intercepting the thief and foiling his atempt, indicating that his behaviour reflects his genuine commitment to the community and his presence of mind in dealing with emergencies.
Maj. Gen. Al Mansouri explained that honouring Keshur in his workplace and among his colleagues and neighbours reflects Dubai Police’s keenness on strengthening the concept of community partnership and reinforcing the sense of responsibility among individuals.
