President graces splendid ‘March of the Union’ show

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed atended on Saturday the ‘March of the Union,’ which is being organised in Al Wathba by the Presidenti­al Court to mark the UAE’S 51st National Day, with the participat­ion of tribes from across the country.

Representi­ng various emirates and regions in the UAE, participan­ts in the March of the Union expressed their pride in the UAE’S unity and its journey since the establishm­ent of the union, as well as in having such wise leadership, headed by Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed and Their Highnesses the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates.

Participat­ing Emiratis showcased the UAE’S heritage through traditiona­l and folk songs and chants, which spotlight the Emirati national identity and heritage, their deep connection with their homeland and the strong cohesion seen across the Emirati community.

They also waved the UAE’S flag, renewing their pledge of allegiance to the country’s wise leadership.

Starting with a performanc­e of the UAE’S national anthem, the March of the Union featured a series of heritage activities, including traditiona­l camel and horse shows and traditiona­l Emirati dances, followed by an air show, where aircrat painted Al Wathba skies red, white, green and black, until the UAE flag took shape, decorating the blue skies.

The March of the Union is held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed, and celebrates the ‘Spirit of the Union.’

Also atending the march were Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representa­tive in Al

Dhafra Region; Lt. General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior; Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidenti­al Court; Sheikh Khalid Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Zayed Higher Organisati­on for People of Determinat­ion (ZHO); Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Office; Sheikh Theyab Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of Abu Dhabi Executive Council; Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President; and a number of Sheikhs, high-ranking officials, and guests.

The UAE Rulers along with a number of Sheikhs and other dignitarie­s atended the official celebratio­ns to mark the 51st National Day of the country on Friday evening.

The celebratio­ns kicked off to the sounds of the UAE national anthem, performed by the Royal Philharmon­ic Orchestra along with several Emirati musicians. This was followed by a segment commemorat­ing the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, which showcased his lasting impact as a leader, whose reign saw countless achievemen­ts in environmen­tal preservati­on, sustainabi­lity, technology, economic developmen­t, education, among others.

The grand event also featured a number of tech-powered shows and performanc­es highlighti­ng a roster of the UAE’S pioneers in various fields; as well as a wide range of thrilling segments spotlighti­ng the UAE’S past and present, and its bold and ambitious initiative­s and plans for the future.

Separately, the United States of America conveyed its warm wishes to the people of the UAE on the occasion of the country’s 51st National Day.

“Our partnershi­p is strong, as represente­d by our troops who have served together in defence of our shared security, the tens of thousands of Emiratis who have studied at American universiti­es, business leaders from each country working together to pursue economic opportunit­y, and the exceptiona­l and wide-ranging cooperatio­n between our two government­s,” said Antony Blinken, US Secretary of State, in a press statement on Friday.

“I commend the United Arab Emirates for the historic cooperatio­n with Israel forged over the past two years through the Abraham Accords. I also commend the work of the Negev Forum, as well as our collective work with India through I2U2, which is striving to deliver tangible benefits to the region and beyond and make real our aspiration­s for greater regional integratio­n in the Middle East and beyond.”

He went on to congratula­te the UAE on the success of Expo 2020 Dubai, noting that it demonstrat­es the UAE’S resilience despite COVID’S various mutations.
