President graces splendid ‘March of the Union’ show
President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed atended on Saturday the ‘March of the Union,’ which is being organised in Al Wathba by the Presidential Court to mark the UAE’S 51st National Day, with the participation of tribes from across the country.
Representing various emirates and regions in the UAE, participants in the March of the Union expressed their pride in the UAE’S unity and its journey since the establishment of the union, as well as in having such wise leadership, headed by Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed and Their Highnesses the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates.
Participating Emiratis showcased the UAE’S heritage through traditional and folk songs and chants, which spotlight the Emirati national identity and heritage, their deep connection with their homeland and the strong cohesion seen across the Emirati community.
They also waved the UAE’S flag, renewing their pledge of allegiance to the country’s wise leadership.
Starting with a performance of the UAE’S national anthem, the March of the Union featured a series of heritage activities, including traditional camel and horse shows and traditional Emirati dances, followed by an air show, where aircrat painted Al Wathba skies red, white, green and black, until the UAE flag took shape, decorating the blue skies.
The March of the Union is held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed, and celebrates the ‘Spirit of the Union.’
Also atending the march were Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al
Dhafra Region; Lt. General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior; Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court; Sheikh Khalid Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO); Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Office; Sheikh Theyab Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of Abu Dhabi Executive Council; Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President; and a number of Sheikhs, high-ranking officials, and guests.
The UAE Rulers along with a number of Sheikhs and other dignitaries atended the official celebrations to mark the 51st National Day of the country on Friday evening.
The celebrations kicked off to the sounds of the UAE national anthem, performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra along with several Emirati musicians. This was followed by a segment commemorating the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, which showcased his lasting impact as a leader, whose reign saw countless achievements in environmental preservation, sustainability, technology, economic development, education, among others.
The grand event also featured a number of tech-powered shows and performances highlighting a roster of the UAE’S pioneers in various fields; as well as a wide range of thrilling segments spotlighting the UAE’S past and present, and its bold and ambitious initiatives and plans for the future.
Separately, the United States of America conveyed its warm wishes to the people of the UAE on the occasion of the country’s 51st National Day.
“Our partnership is strong, as represented by our troops who have served together in defence of our shared security, the tens of thousands of Emiratis who have studied at American universities, business leaders from each country working together to pursue economic opportunity, and the exceptional and wide-ranging cooperation between our two governments,” said Antony Blinken, US Secretary of State, in a press statement on Friday.
“I commend the United Arab Emirates for the historic cooperation with Israel forged over the past two years through the Abraham Accords. I also commend the work of the Negev Forum, as well as our collective work with India through I2U2, which is striving to deliver tangible benefits to the region and beyond and make real our aspirations for greater regional integration in the Middle East and beyond.”
He went on to congratulate the UAE on the success of Expo 2020 Dubai, noting that it demonstrates the UAE’S resilience despite COVID’S various mutations.
