Mercury dips with more rain falling all over the country
The highest amount of rain of 63.8 mm was recorded on Al Faqa in Al Ain city, followed by 39.8 mm on the Port of Fujairah and 38.9 mm on the Sir Bu Nair Island in Sharjah
Heavy rain fell on separate areas across the UAE on Thursday as a result of the unstable weather conditions prevailing in the country.
According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), the unstable weather conditions are expected to continue to affect the country on Friday but will gradually be less severe from Saturday with a chance of rain on some northern and eastern coastal areas during the day.
Moderate to heavy rain fell on multiple areas on Thursday including Abu Dhabi city and outskirts, Razeen, Al Ajban, Al ShahamaGhantoot Road, and Truck Road in Abu Dhabi; Al Faqa and Al Shuwaib in Al Ain; Sila, Ghayathi, Al Mirfa, Liwa-madinat Zayed Road and Al Ruwais in Al Dhafra Region; Aqah, Al Faqeet, Hofra, Al Wurayah, Al Haniya, Bidiya and Dibba in Fujairah; Wadi Al Qor in Ras Al Khaimah; Global Village, Hata, Al Mimzar, Palm Islands and Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai; Al Suhub Rest Area, Sad Alrafisa, Khorfakkan, Kalba, Dibba Al Hisn and Al Dhaid in Sharjah; separates areas in Ajman and other separate areas across the country.
The lowest temperature of 3.2 degrees Celsius was registered on Thursday in Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah at 1:00am, while 5.3 degrees Celsius was registered in Jebel Al Mebrah in Ras Al Khaimah, 5.5 degrees Celsius in Al Rahba Mountain and 9.3 degrees Celsius in Jebel Al Haban.

The NCM called on motorists to be careful while driving under the low horizontal visibility caused by the rainfall and sand-stirring winds and to stay away from large puddles and flooded valleys.
The Abu Dhabi Police also called on drivers to be cautious due to the rainy weather conditions and to abide by the changing speed limits as shown on electronic traffic and guiding signs.
Meanwhile, the Al Dhafra Region Municipality called on the public to exercise extreme caution while using roads due to the fact that some areas were affected by active and dust-stirring winds and rainfall. It also called on them to contact the hotline 993 or Whatsapp 026788888 in the event of any damages, falling trees or other emergency cases as a result of the unstable weather conditions.
Friday’s weather is expected to be partly cloudy in general and cloudy at times with rains on some areas, especially the coastal, northern and eastern ones, the NCM said.
Light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds will blow, turning to active at times at 15 to 25 and up to 40 km/h, while the waves will be rough in the Arabian Gulf and will have moderate waves in the Sea of Oman, it added.
Saturday’s weather will be partly cloudy in general and cloudy at times in some northern and eastern areas with a chance of rain during the day, it said, noting that it will be humid at night and on Sunday morning in some inland areas with a chance of light fog.
Light to moderate northwesterly winds will blow, turning to active and strong at times offshore at 15 to 30 and up to 45 km/h, while the waves will be rough in the Arabian Gulf but will have regular to moderate waves in the Sea of Oman, though it will be rough at times in the evening.
Sunday’s weather will be clear to partly cloudy in general and cloudy at times in some northern and eastern areas, turning to humid at night and on Monday morning in some inland areas with a chance of fog or light fog, it said.
Light to moderate northwesterly to southwesterly winds will blow, turning to active at times at 10 to 20 and up to 35 km/h, while the sea will have moderate to regular waves in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
Monday’s weather is expected to be clear to partly cloudy in general, turning to humid at night and on Tuesday morning in some coastal and inland areas with a chance of fog or light fog, the NCM said.
Light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds will blow at 10 to 20 and up to 30 km/h, while the sea will have regular waves in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
