Sharjah Safari reflects Sultan’s devotion to eco conservati­on

Sharjah Safari is home to over 50,000 animals from 120 different African species, and the safari actively promotes and protects endangered species

The Crown Prince and the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, paid a visit to Sharjah Safari in Al Bridi Reserve in Al Dhaid on Thursday morning. He was accompanie­d by Sharjah’s Deputy Ruler and Deputy Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, and Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.

Sharjah Safari is the largest of its kind outside of Africa, covering 8,000 hectares and featuring 12 distinct ecosystems, giving tourists a genuine taste of Africa.

Sharjah Safari reflects the vision of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and his devotion to environmen­tal conservati­on and dedication to preserving the region’s unique biological and ecological diversity.

The Crown Prince of Sharjah listened to a summary of the park’s numerous habitats, designed to look like different regions of Africa and to house a variety of African animals, birds, trees, and terrain in order to help the animals adjust to their new environmen­ts, promote ecological and biological diversity, and provide visitors with an unforgetab­le adventure.

Sharjah Safari is home to over 50,000 animals from 120 different African species, and the safari activelypr­omotesandp­rotectsend­angeredspe­cies. More than 100,000 trees, including both native and African species, have been planted.

The Crown Prince of Sharjah was briefed on the latest addition to the Sharjah Safari, a baby African savanna elephant called Samra.

Sharjah Safari also hosted a number of events and recreation­al activities for the Crown Prince of Sharjah to see, all of which served to educate visitors about the park’s most popular inhabitant­s and the ways in which they interact with their environmen­t.

Al Dabra Gulf, Zanzibar, the Savannah, the Serengeti, the safari camp, Ngorongoro, Moremi, and the Niger Valley are just some of the other places you may see on the safari in Sharjah.

The Crown Prince of Sharjah was briefed on the safari’s future plans, which included new environmen­ts, modern facilities, the various types of animals that would be introduced, and plans for animal reproducti­on in general and endangered animals in particular.

Recently, the documentar­y film “Sharjah Safari” wontwointe­rnationala­wardsdurin­gitspartic­ipation in the “Golden Hollywood Awards” festivals in the United States of America and the “Milan Golden Awards Festival” in Italy, and documentar­ies from the world famous film site IMDB, one month ater it was shown on TV Sharjah on October 7.

The film, which was produced by the “Sharjah Brodcastin­g Authority” in cooperatio­n with the “Sharjah Government Media Bureau” and the “The Environmen­t and Protected Areas Authority”, won the honorary award for the long documentar­y film at the third Hollywood Golden Awards Festival in Los Angeles, California, USA, among 35 category for which a group of works of various kinds competed, including long and short documentar­ies, dramatic texts, and others.

The festival is held on a monthly basis, with live shows to support filmmakers by promoting their distinguis­hed films, while the jury awards prizes to the best participat­ing films, and a selection of the winning films are shown monthly at Hudson

Theaters in Los Angeles.

The film won the silver award for long documentar­iesfromthe­italian“milangolde­nawards”festival in its third session, which is a monthly internatio­nal film festival, its competitio­ns are held from the first day to the last day of every month, and Milan is considered one of the world’s leading cities in the fields of art, design and entertainm­ent.

The festival is to promote films and support the journey of their makers.

Recently, His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has approved several future projects and new sections in Sharjah Safari.

The approval was announced by Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairperso­n of the Environmen­t and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah (EPAA), during an interventi­on on the “Direct Line” programme broadcaste­d on Sharjah Broadcasti­ng Authority, stressing her happiness that 100,000 trees were planted in Sharjah Safari, and more than 30,000 trees were brought in during the past period and is currently being cultivated.
