Paulo Coelho calls Shah Rukh ‘legend’
MUMBAI:AS the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer “Pathaan” continues to set new records at the box-office, the Badshah of Bollywood received praise from acclaimed author Paulo Coelho, who recently took to Twiter and spoke about his “king” friend while calling him a “legend” in the same breath.
Coelho posted a tweet from SRK, which has a video of fans swarming outside his Mannat residence in Mumbai, with the caption, “King. Legend. Friend. But above all, AGREAT ACTOR (for those who don’t know him in the West, I strongly suggest ‘My name is Khan - and I am not a terrorist.’)” Reacting to the tweet, SRK wrote, “You are always too kind my friend. Let us meet up sooner than soon!! Bless you.” This is not the first time that Coelho has lavished praise on SRK.
In 2017, the author had congratulated the “Baazigar” actor on the seventh anniversary of the movie “My Name Is Khan” on Twiter, saying the actor delivered an Oscar-winning performance in the movie.
He wrote, “His first (and only) movie that I watched (this year, even if it was released in 2008) was ‘My Name is Khan.’ And not only was the movie excellent, but SRK deserved an Oscar if Hollywood was not manipulated. He kindly offered to send the other titles; as you probably guess, it is not easy to find them in Switzerland.” Meanwhile “Pathaan” is smashing box-office records. The film is having a historic run in the theatres with domestic and overseas box office collections crossing Rs700 crore in just nine days.
Pathaan” on its ninth day registered an incredible Rs15.65 crore net in India (Rs15 crore in Hindi and Rs0.65 crore in all dubbed versions).
In nine days, the film has recorded Rs259.6 crore in overseas territories, while net collection in India stand at Rs351 crore, as per trade sources.
The film has been directed by Siddharth Anand of “War” fame.
Siddharth has been entrusted by Aditya Chopra to start two franchises of the YRF Spy Universe given his mastery over the action genre.
Siddharth is also the only Hindi film director to have delivered five Rs50 crore net box office days and also five Rs100 crore worldwide gross box office days with “War” and “Pathaan.” With this, all films of the YRF’S Spy Universe — “Ek Tha Tiger,” “Tiger Zinda Hai,” “War” and “Pathaan” — are now bonafide blockbusters.
“Pathaan,” which also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, has been produced by Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films.
