More injured Palestinian children arrive in the UAE

-

The 14th group of wounded Palestinian children and cancer patients arrived in the UAE on Wednesday in response to the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to provide medical treatment for 1,000 wounded children, and 1,000 cancer patients from the Gaza Strip, in the UAE’S hospitals.

Departing from Al Arish International Airport, the plane landed at the Abu Dhabi International Airport, carrying 32 Palestinians who were accompanied by 64 family members.

Families of the patients expressed profound gratitude to the UAE for its significant humanitarian assistance, which aimed at easing the plight of the Palestinian people.

Upon arrival, medical teams switly transported the patients to hospitals for immediate care, while the remaining cases and their companions were taken to the Emirates Humanitarian City for accommodation.

Since the onset of the crisis, the UAE has been a steadfast supporter of Gaza, launching “Operation Chivalrous Knight 3” in November 2023 to provide humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

The UAE has strengthened its humanitarian response to the crisis by continuously providing food, humanitarian assistance, and emergency medical assistance to the Palestinian people. The country established a 150-bed field hospital in Gaza and the Floating Hospital in Al Arish port, which has a capacity of 100 beds, operating rooms, intensive care, radiology, laboratory, pharmacy, and medical cabinets.

Additionally, the UAE launched six desalination plants in Rafah, Egypt, to address the dire water infrastructure situation in Gaza and ensure the Palestinian people’s access to safe drinking water. These plants desalinate about 1.2 million gallons per day, pumping them through pipes extending into Gaza.

The UAE has strongly condemned the Israeli government’sannouncementtoconfiscate8,000 dunams of land in the Jordan Valley of the Occupied Palestinian Territory, and expressed its rejection of all measures aimed at changing the historical and legal status of the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

The Ministry stressed the need to support all regional and international efforts to advance the peace process in the Middle East, as well as end illegal practices that threaten the twostate solution, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

Israel wants to reschedule talks in Washington to discuss a possible offensive in the Gaza city of Rafah, days ater it canceled the trip in protest at a UN ceasefire resolution, a US official said Wednesday.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu angrily scrapped the visit on Monday ater Israel’s closest ally, the United States, abstained on the UN Security Council vote, allowing it to pass and deepening talk of a rit with President Joe Biden.

But ater the White House said it was “perplexed” by the move, Israel backtracked.

The health ministry in Gaza said Wednesday that at least 32,490 people have been killed in the territory during more than five months of war between Israel and Palestinian militants.

The toll includes at least 76 deaths over the past 24 hours, a ministry statement said, adding that 74,889 people have been wounded in the Gaza Strip since the war began on Oct.7.

Turkish aid agency Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) presented two new vessels on Wednesday meant to take aid directly to Gaza where Palestinians face famine almost six months into Israel’s devastating military campaign.

Turkey, which has denounced Israel for its offensive in densely populated Gaza and called for an immediate ceasefire, has sent tens of thousands of tons of humanitarian aid there since the start of the Israel-hamas war on Oct. 7, and aims to increase it during the current Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Ireland said it would intervene in South Africa’s genocide case against Israel, in the strongest signal to date of Dublin’s concern about Israeli operations in Gaza.

Announcing the move, Foreign Minister Micheal Martin said that while it was for the World Court to decide whether genocide is being commited, he wanted to be clear that Hamas’ Oct. 7 atack and what is happening in Gaza now “represents the blatant violation of international humanitarian law on a mass scale.”
