Strong ties between UAE, Bangladesh highlighte­d

DUBAI: A reception on the occasion of the 54th Anniversar­y of the Independen­ce and National Day of Bangladesh and the Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh-uae 50 years of Diplomatic Relations was held at the Raffles Hotel in Dubai on 17th April 2024.

This occasion was graced by Rashid Abdullah Al Qaseer, Deputy Director of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dubai Office as Guest of Honour. As many as 300 guests including Members of

Diplomatic Cores, business leaders, high officials, and dignitarie­s atended the event.

The Consul General of Bangladesh in Dubai and Northern Emirates, B M Jamal Hossain congratula­ted all the expatriate­s and thanked the UAE nationals for their continued support in peaceful and harmonious co-existence of the people of the two brotherly countries in the UAE.

In his speech the Consul General recalled with deep reverence the Father of Bangladesh

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members those were brutally killed on 15 August 1975 and paid homage to martyrs and freedom fighters.

He also urged for visiting Bangladesh to experience the incredible developmen­t in every sector that happened in recent years under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

During his speech, a special documentar­y focusing on the visit of Sheikh Mujibur in the UAE in 1974 showed for the guests. The visit and the meetings of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan have been highlighte­d in this video documentar­y. On this special occasion, he urged to reaffirm commitment to further deepening and diversifyi­ng partnershi­p.

Ater that, a cake cuting programme was held to commemorat­e Golden Jubilee of the 50 years of Diplomatic Relations.
