Dubai Sports Council fetes Civil Defence with medals
DUBAI: In an outpouring gesture of gratitude, the Dubai Sports Council (DSC) will honour the hard, unrelenting work of the ‘first line of defence’ in the UAE.
The Dubai Sports Council has issued a special commemorative medal to recognize the special efforts put in by common people from public and private institutions and departments, including the Police, Emergency, Road and Transport Authority, Municipality, Civil Defence, Health, Ambulance Services, Airport authorities and everyone who toiled day and night to ensure the safety of the community at large during the unusual weather earlier this week.
The first line of defence have all united under one common focus of humanity and continued to strive under extreme pressure to put back Dubai as one of the top cities in the world.
The Dubai Sports Council wants to appreciate the great and tireless efforts and dedication to work by those champions on the first line of defence.
Each medal to be handed out to the participants in Dubai’s upcoming sports events and representative from the first line heroes and take part in awarding the winners and participants in these events.
It is not for the first time that the Dubai Sports Council has embarked on a rather unique gesture like this one. The DSC has in the past issued special medals a couple of years back in recognition of the valuable work done by the first line of defence during the Covid-19 period.
On other hand, Khalaf Bin Ahmed Al Habtoor, Founder and Chairman of the Al Habtoor Group, announced the launch of two new initiatives to support the Emirati community in the wake of the recent climate conditions witnessed by the country. In a quick and effective response to support the efforts of the Supreme Committee for Crisis and Emergency Management in Dubai, and in coordination with the Emirates
Red Crescent Authority in Dubai, the group is allocating an amount of 17 million dirhams from the legacy of the late, God willing, Mohammed Khalifa Al Suwaidi, to repair the damage to the homes of Emirati families, in addition to providing hotel rooms. In the group’s hotels to shelter the affected families, a number of Emirati families from Dubai whose homes were damaged have already been hosted in the group’s hotels in Al Habtoor City.
These initiatives come as part of Khalaf Al Habtoor’s ongoing commitment to supporting Emirati society in times of crisis, and highlighting the important role that private institutions play in helping those affected and providing a helping hand in difficult times.
In addition, the Al Habtoor Group cooperated with the Dubai Community Development Authority to host wedding parties for the people of the Al Lisaili area as part of the “Dubai Weddings” program at the Habtoor Grand Hotel in the Jumeirah area. This cooperation comes to avoid postponing any scheduled concert due to the effects of the recent weather conditions.
Commenting on the recent events, Khalaf Al Habtoor expressed his deep solidarity with the affected families, stressing that the goal of these efforts is “to ensure safety and stability for every family affected by emergency conditions and to be able to restore their lives as quickly as possible.”
He added: “We stand within our modest capabilities, side by side with government agencies and charitable institutions, to confront the challenges imposed by nature, and to enhance the spirit of cooperation and solidarity, which are among the basic values of UAE society.”
