Clear to partly cloudy weather, rise in temperatur­e likely: NCM

The National Centre of Meteorolog­y (NCM) expects Monday’s weather to be generally clear to partly cloudy, becoming cloudy in the west at noon, and in some northern and eastern regions at night and on Tuesday morning, with the possibilit­y of light to moderate rains at times, and a rise in temperatur­es.

Winds, according to the NCM, will be southeaste­rly to northeaste­rly, turning to northweste­rly on Tuesday morning, light to moderate, sometimes active, with speeds ranging from 10 to 20, amounting to 35 kilometres/h.

The sea will be light to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and light in the Sea of Oman, NCM reported.

NCM added that Tuesday’s weather will be partly cloudy in general and cloudy at times in some southern and eastern regions, with a chance of rains, and a drop in temperatur­es in some coastal areas, and humid at night and on Wednesday morning, with a chance of fog or light fog formation in some inland and coastal areas.

Winds on Tuesday are expected to be northweste­rly to southweste­rly, light to moderate, sometimes active, stirring dust, and the sea will be moderate, sometimes turbulent in the Arabian Gulf, and light to moderate in the Sea of Oman, NCM indicated.

Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, has directed the early disburseme­nt of April salaries for Dubai government employees, military personnel, military retirees, and recipients of government social benefits in the emirate on Tuesday, 23 April.

This decision reflects the Crown Prince’s commitment to supporting employees and their families, amidst the extreme weather conditions faced by the country.

The early disburseme­nt is aimed at helping employees manage their family needs and ensuring their wellbeing during the current period.

Thanking all who helped authoritie­s Hamdan said “a special thank you to all who have contribute­d to our city. With your efforts, Dubai will remain a beautiful place to be.”

Sheikh Hamdan has directed the establishm­ent of a committee to urgently review all requests from Emirati citizens affected by the heavy rains.

The committee will determine the most appropriat­e measures to address these requests, prioritisi­ng the repair and rehabilita­tion of the homes of affected citizens.

Sheikh Hamdan has said that guided by the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the emirate is always prepared to respond effectivel­y to any challenge.

Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-chief of Sharjah Police stated that the damage certificat­e can be obtained for free for all those affected by the severe weather conditions in the Emirate of Sharjah and can be submitted to all official platforms.

Al Shamsi indicated that it is possible to apply for the certificat­e through the “Sharjah Police Smart App” and “website,” in support of the efforts and to reduce the burdens in light of these exceptiona­l circumstan­ces.

He explained that the field work teams, in cooperatio­n with all partners and stakeholde­rs, are working around the clock to provide the utmost assistance to the affected families in all cities of Sharjah Emirate to return to their normal life as soon as possible, stressing that the safety and security of citizens, residents and visitors are at the forefront of Sharjah police’s priorities.

Sharjah on Sunday extended remote learning for all private school in the Emirate until Monday 22-04-24 due to the exceptiona­l circumstan­ces.

In a post on X, Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) said that the decision is taken in considerat­ion of the safety of students.

Meanwhile, KHDA wrote on its X platform that “as our education community prepares to resume on-site learning, we ask all Dubai private schools, universiti­es and nurseries to remain flexible and accommodat­ing to the needs of students, teachers and staff, and continue offering distance learning for those facing ongoing logistical challenges after the severe weather.”
