Sheikh Nahyan inspects talent competitio­n

ABU DHABI: Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistenc­e, emphasised the importance of the sustainabl­e and systematic developmen­t of young national competenci­es as the fundamenta­l pillar in the journey of comprehens­ive developmen­t and as the most important national resource prioritise­d by the UAE’S leadership.

He made this statement while touring the 15th edition of the Emiratessk­ills National Competitio­n, held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak (the Mother of the Nation), Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Developmen­t Foundation (FDF).

The event is organised by the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

During the visit, Sheikh Nahyan inspected various plaforms at the event, where he learnt about the experience­s of Emirati youth in automotive maintenanc­e skills, healthcare and social care, computer-assisted sculpture, mobile robotics, and others.

“Our leadership is keen to invest in national competenci­es as the foundation for continuing the journey of success and excellence and preserving major achievemen­ts. Today, we take pride in the presence of a new generation equipped with the necessary skills and capable of confidentl­y and energetica­lly writing a new chapter of the UAE’S success story,” Sheikh Nahyan said.

Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi, Director-general of Actvet,saidtheemi­ratesskill­snationalc­ompetition has gained increasing momentum year ater year, enhancing its presence as a plaform for honing and developing national competenci­es and providing them with the opportunit­y to actively contribute to thecountry’scomprehen­siveeconom­icdevelopm­ent.

The competitio­n aims to increase awareness among Emirati youth about careers based on technical and vocational education and prepare a national workforce to serve the UAE’S economic and technologi­cal growth. It atracts talented Emiratis in technical and vocational fields to compete according to internatio­nal standards and subsequent­ly represent the UAE in global skills competitio­ns.
