Dubai Police hold hotel security awareness workshop

DUBAI: The Dubai Tourist Police Department at the General Department of Criminal Investigat­ion (CID) has recently organised a workshop to raise the awareness of 107 employees of the FIVE Palm Jumeirah Hotel on smart police services, security procedures, and public safety measures.

The event was organised in cooperatio­n with the General Department of Anti-narcotics, the Crime Scene Investigat­ion Department at the General Department of Forensic Sciences and Criminolog­y, the Positive Spirit Council, the Department of Economy and Tourism, the General Directorat­e of Civil Defence-dubai, and the Dubai Corporatio­n for Ambulance Services.

Brigadier Khalfan Al Jallaf, the Director of the Dubai Tourist Police Department, emphasised that the specialise­d workshop is part of a series of workshops organised by the Dubai Police in collaborat­ion with strategic partners. He added that these workshops are being conducted under the guidance of Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-chief of Dubai Police, and with the oversight of Major General Expert Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commandant for Criminal Investigat­ion Affairs, and Brigadier Harib Al Shamsi, Acting Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigat­ions.

Brig. Al Jallaf indicated that the main objective of these workshops is to raise security awareness within the tourism and hospitalit­y sector in the emirate of Dubai, by reinforcin­g overall security and public safety measures, and ensuring the satisfacti­on of tourists visiting Dubai.

The workshop covered the high-quality and convenient services offered by the Smart Police Stations (SPS), which provide accessible assistance to the public 24/7, without human interventi­on.

Furthermor­e, participan­ts gained knowledge about the risks associated with drugs. They were informed about the Lost & Found system available at Dubai hotels, as well as the effective methods of communicat­ion and engagement with law enforcemen­t agencies.

The participan­ts were also conducted on cybercrime, including strategies for dealing with electronic breaches and extortion and utilising the e-crime platform to report such incidents. Additional­ly, participan­ts were informed about the appropriat­e procedures for contacting the police in case of emergencie­s (via 999) and non-emergency situations (via 901).

The Department of Economy and Tourism team presented an overview of how to engage with tourists in Dubai and highlighte­d the premium services offered to profession­als in the tourism sector.

Additional­ly, the Dubai Corporatio­n for Ambulance Services team carried out a practical field scenario demonstrat­ing the proper response to an emergency situation, specifical­ly addressing the case of a hotel guest experienci­ng a sudden heart attack.
