Sharjah pip Bani Yas, Khorfakkan hold Al Jazira

DUBAI: Sharjah settled up a five-goal thriller after securing a 3-2 win over Bani Yas in a postponed match from matchweek 19 on Friday.

Saleh Musallam found the breakthrou­gh and broke the deadlock when Ousmane Camara fed Musallam as he cut inside and smashed a shot beyond Aldhanhani into the bottom corner after 37 minutes.

A spectacula­r shot from M. Marega in the 46th minute sees Sharjah going ahead with two clean goals.

Three minutes later, Prestige Mboungou’s curling low effort from inside the box reduced the deficit for Bani Yas

M. Marega climbed above Bani Yas’ defense and headed Miralem Pjanic’s brilliant cross from a corner in the 51st minute.

A superb strike from Gaston Suarez in the 53rd minute boosted Bani Yas’ hope in the game as the score became 3-2.

The result means Sharjah sit sixth with 34 points, while Bani Yas are 10th with 22 points.

Al Jazira and Khorfakkan shared the spoils after playing out a 3-3 draw at Mohammad Bin Zayed Stadium.

Neeskens Kebano had put Al Jazira ahead after twelve minutes when he orchestrat­ed a brilliant one-two with Al Ejandro Pozuelo ended with the former firing a sublime strike into the back of the net.

Eight minutes later, Thulani Serero curled a right-footed effort from inside the box to level the scoring.

Aboubakar Kamara spotted Khorfakkan’s goalkeeper off the line and fired a powerful effort that smashed the back of the net four minutes after the break.

Lourency Do hit the equalizer from the spot as he stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way ten minutes after the hour-mark.

Mohamed Awad had thought that they sealed the victory in the 88th minute from the spot, but Bruno De Oliveira hit the equalizer in the dead minute with a right-footed effort from inside the box.

The result means that Al Jazira are 7th with 28 points, while Khorfakkan are 12th with 21 points.

In another match, Ajman secured a 2-0 comfortabl­e win over Al Bataeh.

The game was filled with exciting moments, and the fans were treated to an intense battle on the pitch.

The breakthrou­gh came in the 63rd minute when Waleed Azaro showcased his impeccable timing. As Ali Madan delivered a pinpoint cross, Azaro leaped into the air and met the ball with a powerful header, leaving the Al Bataeh goalkeeper with no chance. The stadium erupted in cheers as Ajman took the lead.

Ajman continued to press forward, seeking to extend their advantage. In the 74th minute, Rocky Marciano found himself in the right place at the right time. After a goalmouth scramble, the ball fell kindly to Marciano, who calmly poked it into the net. His clinical finish doubled Ajman’s lead.
