PTI moves court against CDA’S operation at party office
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) has filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) operation at party’s central secretariat.
As per details, the petition, filed by Omar Ayub, Shoaib Shaheen, and Amer Baloch, urged the court to declare the CDA’S demolition order illegal.
The petition names the Secretary Interior, Chief Commissioner, Chairman CDA, IG, and others as respondents.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan lambasted the authorities for “violating” the sanctity of his party’s Central Secretariat in the federal capital.
“In a democracy, the central office of a party is sanctified,” he said, terming the bulldozing of central office a “cowardly act.”
He alleged that the Central Secretariat was demolished without any “reasons or prior notice.”
As per the CDA officials statement, a largescale encroachment was established by occupying land adjacent to the plot.
Meanwhile, the CDA has decided to incorporate building efficiency codes into its regulations, ensuring these energy-efficient codes are applied to new constructions, existing buildings, and design phases.
The decision was taken at a meeting on energy efficiency held at CDA headquarters. The meeting was chaired by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa.
Additionally, it was agreed that the CDA Design Veting Commitee will consider energy efficiency factors in their assessments, following the specific guidelines.
To support this, capacity-building sessions for CDA officers will be conducted by master trainers to ensure the guidelines are well understood and implemented.
Moreover, the departments involved will hold further meetings to develop a roadmap for creating an energy-efficient community. This includes integrating guidelines into regulations and establishing efficiency rankings based on the city’s climatic conditions. In this context, it was decided that capacity building of staff will be made to bring energy conservation and energy efficiency in building parameters.
Of late, the CDA has been under tremendous atack from the PTI for demolishing a part of its central secretariat in Islamabad and sealing it for violating the building code.
The PTI has also poured scorn on the Shahbaz Sharif government for the action.
However, the CDA has shared lengthy official correspondence with the owners of the PTI secretariat showing that it has been asking him to remove the encroachments and abide by the building by-laws and code.
