Two Bri­tish women killed in Oman road mishap

DUBAI: Of­fi­cials in Oman say two Bri­tish women are dead and one Bri­tish man is in­jured af­ter be­ing hit by a car in the sul­tanate.

The Royal Oman Po­lice said on Twit­ter on Fri­day the crash hap­pened in Salalah near its Haffa mar­ket. It said the driver of the car did not have a li­cence and an in­ves­ti­ga­tion into the crash had be­gun.

Oman’s Tourism Min­istry iden­ti­ied the vic­tims’ na­tion­al­i­ties. It said the Bri­tish man hit was in a lo­cal hospi­tal in a sta­ble con­di­tion. The ofi­cials did not name those in­volved in the crash. Lo­cal me­dia re­ported that the crash hap­pened on Thurs­day.

Salalah is 860 kilo­me­tres (540 miles) south­west of Oman’s cap­i­tal, Mus­cat. Oman sits on the eastern edge of the Ara­bian Penin­sula and Salalah is a pop­u­lar tourist des­ti­na­tion in the sul­tanate.
