Anwar hits ton as Mideast Metals down Old School Boys

DUBAI: A lamboyant 146 not out by Ali Anwar highlighte­d Mideast Metals big win over Old School Boys in the second DCC Weekend Slammers League being played at the Sevens ground in Dubai.

Coming in to bat at number four after his team won the toss Anwar took complete charge of the match by demolishin­g the attack of the Old School Boys.

Anwar sent the ball 14 times over the ropes and hit five boundaries. He was at the crease for 65 balls and remained unconquere­d.

Zar Mohammad (33) and Khurram Khawaja (20) swelled the total to 235 for the loss of six wickets.

In reply Old School Boys could muster only 157. Zeeshan Akmal (42) and Mohammad Ibthisam (39) were the main contributo­rs. Khurram Khawaja and Muzaffar Ali shared two wickets each.

In other matches Roaring Lions were outplayed by Dubai Mammoths and Mavericks respective­ly.

Dubai Mammoths posted 208 after Jawed Siddiqui’s unbeaten 72 from 44 balls had four sixes and three boundaries.

Roaring Lions could manage only 175.

The Lions fared more badly against Mavericks. Batting first Mavericks reached 212 with knocks of 64 and 59 from Asad Badami and Jawad Ghani.

Lions were restricted to 131 after Mohammad Zubair grabbed three wickets.
