Sheikh Ahmed unveils new facilities at IHS
Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, CEO and Chairman of the Emirates Group, inaugurated the newly-constructed B-block and other facilities at the Indian High School (IHS), senior campus, Dubai, on Sunday.
Dr Abdulla Al Karam, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), Dubai, and Vipul, Consul General of India in Dubai, were present at the event as the Guests of Honour.
Welcoming Sheikh Ahmed, who is also patron of the school, IHS chairman Sunil Umrao Singh recalled how the school’s foundation stone was laid by Umrao Singh in 1968. Half-a-century later, the school has built yet another block with modern facilities.
The new facilities were inaugurated with a lot of celebration and excitement amongst the students and staff.
Along with the new building, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum also unveiled the spectacular Wall Mural that relects on the degrading environmental conditions. Showing support for a greener earth, three saplings were planted at the location by the students.
Along with, the new basketball court was also declared open by Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum by signing the basketball.
The new block at IHS has been built giving special consideration for the people of determination.
The building will have 28 classrooms, a career guidance centre, a radio studio, a media department, “The Happiness Hallway,” two parent/ counselor meeting rooms. In a irst-ofits-kind initiative, the new block will also have a “Design Centre” to inspire a new generation of aspiring coders.
At last, the star badminton player of the Indian High School, Tanisha Crasto, was awarded a cheque of Dhs25,000 by Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum for her outstanding achievements.
