Kevin Small has done it again! For the sec­ond year run­ning, the Fifth El­e­ment Mas de­signer/band­leader won the cov­eted Robert Weekes Award for Best Fes­ti­val De­signer in the Repub­lic Bank Grand Kadoo­ment. Small, who also claimed the top prize in the Ju­nior Kadoo­ment won a car from MQI and $7 500 cash.

He also won 11 other in­di­vid­ual prizes in­clud­ing Small

Band Of The Year, Tra­di­tional, Pre­sen­ta­tion Of The Year,

Most Colour­ful Small Band, Com­mu­nity Cos­tume and Best In­di­vid­ual Male, among oth­ers. He also placed third in Best Band On The Road.

Also in the win­ners row were vet­er­ans Betty West and Gwyneth Squires, who won eight awards each. West took

Best Band On The Road, while Squires placed sec­ond in Best Fes­ti­val De­signer com­pe­ti­tion.

Lil Rick also con­tin­ued his win­ning streak, adding the Tune Of The Crop tro­phy to the ones he won in the Sweet Soca and Bash­ment Soca com­pe­ti­tions with Mudda Sally. He also won the Fore­day Morn­ing Jam Tune com­pe­ti­tion. Mikey, who, came sec­ond with Fet­ing Fam­ily, is also the Peo­ple’s Monarch and Party Monarch for 2018.
