Theft accused remanded to HMP Dodds
An accused man who was on bail for a previous offence and who has had a warrant for non-appearance issued against him was remanded when he appeared in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Jahlanny Tremaine Yarde, 20, of Silver Hill Drive, Christ Church, was charged with stealing $7 700 belonging to Nadia Griffith, on December 22, 2017.
Prosecutor Acting Station Sergeant Cameron Gibbons, in objecting to bail, pointed to the seriousness of the offence and the strength of the evidence.
The prosecutor added the accused was on bail from the same court for an aggravated burglary charge and had a warrant issued for his arrest after he failed to appear on April 26.
Acting Station Sergeant Gibbons said the prosecution feared that should the accused be released, he would reoffend.
Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-sargeant remanded the accused to HMP Dodds until October 15, by consent.
The accused, who was represented by attorney Romain Marshall, will reappear in court on that date.
