Brath­waite helps Ra­jputs to easy win

SHARJAH – West In­dies Twenty20 skip­per, Car­los Brath­waite turned in a de­cent all-round per­for­mance to help lift Ra­jputs to a 12-run win over Evin Lewis’s Pun­jabi Leg­ends in the T10 League here yes­ter­day.

Brath­waite smashed an un­beaten, nineball 23 with a cou­ple of fours and sixes as Ra­jputs, sent in at the Sharjah Cricket Sta­dium, ral­lied to 117 for five off their ten overs.

Cap­tain Bren­don Mccul­lum top­scored with 28 from 15 balls while Bar­ba­dos­born Eng­land all-rounder, Chris Jor­dan, claimed two for 16.

In re­ply, Lewis’s wretched run of form con­tin­ued as Leg­ends were re­stricted to 105 for six off their al­lot­ted overs.

Lewis de­parted lbw to the fourth ball of the run chase from Brath­waite, who ended with one for 18 from his two overs.

In six in­nings in the tour­na­ment, Lewis has notched scores of 0, 10, 0, 6 and 4. Philip Salt struck an un­beaten 34 from 17 balls and opener Umar Ak­mal, 34 from 19, but Leg­ends still came up short.

In the other match of the dou­ble­header, cap­tain Dwayne Bravo had lit­tle im­pact as his Maratha Ara­bi­ans went down by eight wick­ets to An­dre Fletcher’s Pakhtoons.
