All sys­tems a go for pa­rade

In­de­pen­dence Day is to­mor­row and in prepa­ra­tion for the 52nd an­nual In­de­pen­dence Day Pa­rade, thou­sands, in­clud­ing mem­bers of the Bar­ba­dos De­fence Force, the Royal Bar­ba­dos Po­lice Force and non-gov­ern­men­tal or­gan­i­sa­tions and stu­dents, took over Kens­ing­ton Oval on Wed­nes­day for the fi­nal re­hearsal lead­ing up to the big day.

The re­hearsal started at 2:30 p.m. and a sec­tion of Pres­i­dent Kennedy Drive had to blocked so par­tic­i­pants had room to play in the streets be­fore lead­ing the march into the Oval to com­plete the cer­e­mo­nial ac­tiv­ity.

The run through was also at­tended by high rank­ing of­fi­cials in­clud­ing Com­mis­sioner of Po­lice Ty­rone Grif­fith and Colonel Glyne Gran­num.
