CPO Atkins mov­ing into new post

CHIEF PER­SON­NEL OF­FI­CER (CPO)

Gail Atkins is be­ing re­as­signed af­ter about

14 years in that post. She will be­come Per­ma­nent Sec­re­tary in the Min­istry of the Pub­lic Ser­vice ef­fec­tive Jan­uary 14.

Head of the Civil Ser­vice Dr Louis Woodroffe made the an­nounce­ment yes­ter­day in a two-page me­moran­dum ad­dressed to per­ma­nent sec­re­taries and heads of de­part­ments.

He also said the CPO post would be “frozen in due course”.

It is ex­pected that Atkins will con­tinue to be re­spon­si­ble for Gov­ern­ment’s per­son­nel mat­ters in her new post. Her re­as­sign­ment was one of 14 in­volv­ing per­ma­nent sec­re­taries and deputy per­ma­nent sec­re­taries.

Ac­cord­ing to the memo, the changes would see cur­rent Per­ma­nent Sec­re­tary in the Min­istry of Small Busi­ness, En­trepreneur­ship and Com­merce, Terry Bas­combe, tak­ing up the post of Spe­cial En­voy to the Repub­lic of Suri­name from next Mon­day.

The other per­ma­nent sec­re­tary re­as­sign­ments in­cluded:

Gayle Fran­cis-vaughan, Min­istry of Creative Econ­omy, Cul­ture and Sports (cur­rently Min­istry of Home Af­fairs).

Deb­o­rah Payne, Min­istry of Home Af­fairs (cur­rently Min­istry of Creative Econ­omy, Cul­ture and Sports).

Pa­trick Mc­caskie, Min­istry of Small Busi­ness, En­trepreneur­ship and Com­merce (cur­rently Eco­nomic Af­fairs).

Yolande Howard, Min­istry of Youth and Com­mu­nity De­vel­op­ment (cur­rently Min­istry of Labour and So­cial Part­ner­ship Re­la­tions).

Alyson Forte, Min­istry of Labour and So­cial Part­ner­ship Re­la­tions (cur­rently Min­istry of the Civil Ser­vice).

San­dra Phillips, Min­istry of In­for­ma­tion, Broad­cast­ing and Pub­lic Af­fairs (cur­rently Train­ing Ad­min­is­tra­tion Divi­sion).

Edi­son Al­leyne, Eco­nomic Af­fairs and Sus­tain­able De­vel­op­ment, Min­istry of Eco­nomic Af­fairs and Sus­tain­able De­vel­op­ment

(cur­rently Sus­tain­able De­vel­op­ment).

Alies Jor­dan, Prime Min­is­ter’s Of­fice with re­spon­si­bil­ity for In­vest­ment (cur­rently Prime Min­is­ter’s Of­fice).

An­drew Git­tens, Per­ma­nent Sec­re­tary, Spe­cial As­sign­ments (cur­rently Per­ma­nent Sec­re­tary in the Min­istry of Youth and Com­mu­nity Em­pow­er­ment).

The deputy per­ma­nent sec­re­tary re­as­sign­ments that take ef­fect from next week are Charles Pig­gott (Act­ing Deputy Per­ma­nent Sec­re­tary Min­istry of Home Af­fairs), Celia Pol­lard-jones (Act­ing Deputy Per­ma­nent Sec­re­tary, Min­istry of Home Af­fairs), and Ch­eryl Al­leyne (act­ing Deputy Per­ma­nent Sec­re­tary, Min­istry of Health and Well­ness).

“The post of deputy per­ma­nent sec­re­tary, Of­fice of the At­tor­ney Gen­eral, will be trans­ferred to the Min­istry of Home Af­fairs to fa­cil­i­tate the act­ing ap­point­ment of Mr Charles Pig­gott in the Min­istry of Home Af­fairs,” Woodroffe said.
