BWA working on sewage plant fix

Daily Nation (Barbados) - - News -

A GLITCH has been blamed for the stench emanating from the Bridgetown Sewage Treatment Plant.

It was on Friday that people working in Fontabelle, St

Michael, started complaining of a noxious stench from the Lakes Folly plant.

And residents were also up in arms about the smell.

Yesterday, the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) issued a statement apologising to those working and living in the areas surrounding the plant.

The statement, posted on its social media page, said the plant had experienced a glitch with one of the blowers late Saturday which resulted in “malodours being experienced in the immediate vicinity of the plant”.

“The authority has made some adjustments to its operations at the plant and this has worked to reduce the odours and get the situation under control.

“The BWA will continue to monitor the situation while it works towards getting another blower operational within the next 48 hours,” it added. (HLE/PR)
