Narrator Jabari Browne was just as delightful as he told the story of the Messiah, moving seamlessly between the songs. Starting with Sinfonia done in calypso and ending with Rejoice Greatly, O Daughter Of Zion played at a fast tempo, his energy was infectious and those merengue movements he and Agard did during the latter’s performance of Why Do The Nations So Furiously Rage were sweet.
It was truly a night where the Christmas favourites from Handel’s Messiah were “wrapped up in the vibrant rhythms of our Caribbean culture”, bringing joy to patrons attending the red carpet gala opening and undoubtedly the two sold out shows that followed. (GBM)
