Close call for injured man
A MAN who was struck on the head with a piece of wood, and the incident captured on mobile phone video, seems to have avoided serious injury.
But sources have informed the Barbados Nation that the victim, identified as Raymon Nurse, has not given law enforcement officials the identity of the man who attacked him.
Police have launched an investigation into the assault, which took place along Fitts Village, St James, on January 2.
The video went viral after it was posted on the social media platform Whatsapp, showing an individual walking behind a car and carrying what appears to be a piece of wood.
When the driver of the car exits the vehicle, he is immediately struck on the head, and slumps back into the driver’s seat. The individual then walks away, after which the video concludes.
In a release issued by the Royal Barbados Police Force, acting public relations officer, Station Sergeant Michael Blackman said officers were summoned to Fitts Village, where they spoke to Nurse, 22, of Fourth Avenue, Pickwick Gap, St Michael.
Nurse complained of pain to the head and ears, and was eventually taken to the QEH by ambulance.
Up to press time, police were unable to provide information on Nurse’s condition, but on social media a man claiming to be his uncle said Nurse was
“out of the woods” for now. (BA)
