Abrother of proposed candidate for Druk Phuensum Tshogpa ( DPT) from Sompangkha Constituency in Sarpang had alleged DPT of betrayal, deception and defamation for his 37 year old brother San Bdr Monger.

The proposed candidate’s brother MB Monger said during press conference last Friday that during last week of July 2017, Mr Hari Pradhan owner of Semjong Enterprise and Kewal Adhikari, a candidate representing DPT from Sergithang- Tsirangtoe contacted him over phone and immediately they both visited his office with proposal to nominate his brother Dhan Bdr Monger from Sompangkha constituency for the upcoming Parliamentary Election, 2018.

In a response, he said “I said will discuss with my brother and inform them and accordingly I had discussion with my brother and informed them the decision. My brother said he will recontest again as incumbent member and can’t participate in the political parties.”

MB Monger said that the party again requested him to support DPT and gave him a proposal of nominating his youngest brother San Bdr Monger to represent Sompangkha constituency in the upcoming election, 2018. “And again I informed them in a similar way saying need to discuss with brother and with inform them about the decision. After that within few days I informed Mr. Hari Pradhan and Kewal Adhikari about our decision after discussing with my brothers.”

He said that within their family members they discussed and agreed to accept the DPT proposal with following conditions that they accepted the proposal of DPT to represent as Sompangkha constituency for the upcoming Election in 2018 by San Bdr Monger; declaration date set right after the National Council election. 2018; mutual agreement to keep confidential about the deal till National Council Election is over by both parties; endorsement of candidate was conducted on 07.08.2017 internally in the presence of President of DPT and Lotsham Committee at Hotel Lotus owned by Kamal Dhan Chamling in Thimphu town with the presentation by introduction speech by Kamal Dhan Chamling and San Bdr Monger followed by evening tea and dinner.

The condition were also made that no condition of prosing any other candidates at any cost by DPT and no withdrawal of candidature till NC election is over at any cost.

MB Monger said that his brother San Bdr Monger received offer from other parties too but they did not accept the offer to maintain principle of a good human being.

However, he said that after the NC election 2018 on 15th May 2018, DPT silently declared another candidate without informing him and his brother.

After the deal from August, 2017 San Bdr Monger stayed without job for ten months expecting the declaration from DPT right after the NC election. He missed many opportunities to join other parties and job.

“I attended several meetings for candidate’s declaration and support, lost huge money by calling friends and supporters to promote DPT every month in telephone,” added MB Monger.

In adding that, he said that “In the mid I approached DPT President informing him about rumors of introducing another candidate replacing my brother but President assured a confirmation of ticket on March 5, 2018 at DPT office and advised not to move anywhere.”

“In the beginning of NC campaign DPT leaked the deal between San Bdr Monger and DPT which impacted the NC election of my brother Dhan Bdr Monger.”

During meeting in December, 2017 he said that we even offered withdrawal of candidature but the committee refused.

Meanwhile, he said that wanted to approach DPT for claim of compensation for San Bdr Monger for loss of opportunities to join with another parties, remained jobless for around 11 months, loss of opportunities to go abroad with wife for further studies and job, betrayal, deception and defamation and loss of energy, money and resources by telephone calling for internal campaigning with friends, relatives and prospective voters.
