Three Bhutanese stu­dents rec­og­nized for ex­cel­lence

Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion rec­og­nized the ex­cel­lence achieved by three of its un­der­grad­u­ate schol­ar­ship stu­dents who re­turned with gold medal and cer­tifi­cates of ex­cel­lence. Dasho Ugyen Che­wang, ad­vi­sor of the in­terim gov­ern­ment to the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion fe­lic­i­tated the three stu­dents and con­grat­u­lated the schol­ars for their stel­lar per­for­mances and achieve­ments.

One of the stu­dents Ngawang Tshomo went to pur­sue Bach­e­lors of Ur­ban Plan­ning at the School of Plan­ning and Ar­chi­tec­ture ( SPA), New Delhi, In­dia in 2013. She was awarded the SPA Gold Medal for the Best Stu­dent of Bach­e­lor of Plan­ning Ex­am­i­na­tion and Best The­sis of Bach­e­lor of Plan­ning Ex­am­i­na­tion in 2017. She was also awarded the Gen­eral Pro­fi­ciency Prize for stand­ing first in the Fi­nal Bach­e­lor of Plan­ning Ex­am­i­na­tion. She grad­u­ated in 2017.

The sec­ond stu­dent Pema Eu­den stud­ied B. Sc. Math­e­mat­ics at the Uni­ver­sity of Texas at El Paso, USA in 2014. She was awarded the Aca­demic and Re­search Ex­cel­lence in Math­e­mat­ics at the un­der­grad­u­ate level by the Uni­ver­sity of Texas at El Paso. Pema Eu­den grad­u­ated in July 2018 and will be serv­ing as a teacher.

The third stu­dent Sonam Lhamo pur­sued B. Sc. Physics at the Uni­ver­sity of Texas at El Paso, USA in 2014. She was awarded Aca­demic and Re­search Ex­cel­lence in Physics at the un­der­grad­u­ate level by the Uni­ver­sity of Texas at El Paso. Sonam Lhamo grad­u­ated in July 2018 and will also be serv­ing as a teacher.

The pro­gramme was at­tended by their par­ents and fam­ily mem­bers of the three stu­dents and of­fi­cials from the min­istry.
