Bhutanese band to perform in Thailand
Alocal music brand in Thimphu, O’Strangers will launch its maiden international performance with a two-month showcase at Pattaya City in Thailand from this month.
This ‘Hard Rock Café Pattaya’ is the first time a leading Bhutanese youth musical talents are performing in Thailand.
The rock bank will be performed with Debut Gig at the internationally-renowned Hard Rock Café franchise.
With talented and versatile Bhutanese musicians, the show, first of its kind is expected to promote the cross exchange of music and artistes between Bhutan and Thailand.
The band leader and songwriter, Sonam Jurmey said his team is expecting to gain a wider fan base on O’Strangers. He said, “We are excited by this opportunity to share our music with a discerning international audience in Hard Rock Café Pattaya.”
The band will showcase its original compositions alongside its arrangements to establish rock classics. A brand new performing playlist has been crafted by the playlist advisor, Thinley Phuntsho.
O’Strangers also launched its debut album ‘Angel of the Stone Age’ to wide acclaim recently.
According to the band, they have performed over 50 shows throughout the country including the prestigious International Band Festival 2015 in Thimphu.
The current members of the team are Sonam Jurmey, band leader and songwriter, Sonam Rinchen aka Zombie, lead vocalist, Ezzuu BJ, lead guitarist, Sonam Jigme, guest bassist/vocals and Ujjal Gurung, guest drummer.
Performance sets a record as the first Bhutanese rock band to play in Thailand at the internationally-renowned Hard Rock Café franchise
