The Ven­er­a­ble Dorji Lopen of the Cen­tral Monas­tic Body ap­pointed Kudung Paro, Kudung Tsho-Chen and Kudung Shar of Pungthim Drat­shang in Pu­nakha dzong.

The 40-year-old San­gay Jamt­sho, is the new Kudung Parop. He joined the monas­tic body at the age of nine and is from Paro. He has also re­ceived var­i­ous oral trans­mis­sions from revered re­li­gious fig­ures. Sonam Rinchen, 38, from Trongsa will now serve as the Kudung Tsho-Chen. He started his monas­tic school­ing at the age of 13.

The Dorji Lopen also con­ferred Tashi Lekd­har to Wangchuk who is the new Kudung Shar. The 34-year-old joined the monas­tic body at the age of six. All the new ap­pointees have been serv­ing at the Pungthim Drat­shang in var­i­ous ca­pac­i­ties be­fore tak­ing up the new posts. As in the tra­di­tion, ev­ery year, the Kudungs are ap­pointed coin­cid­ing with the tra­di­tional day of of­fer­ing.
