MORTUARY, CANTEEN AND A GYM TO REPLACE THE PARKING SPACE
The basement of the Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital (JDWNRH) which is currently being used as a parking will be converted into a canteen, a gym for the staffs and a mortuary.
The rear side of the basement areas which is never used by people is left filled with cigarette butts and the stench of urine. The space at the rear side of the area which has a door to the hospital will be converted into a mortuary. The rest of the space is to be converted into a canteen and gym for the staffs where outsiders will not be allowed.
The canteen is for the hospital staffs working for 24 hours whereby the canteen will provide food at a subsidized rate.
ARMY PERSONNEL ARRESTED FOR ALLEGED RAPE OF A MINOR
Sarpang police has detained a 46-year-old Non - Commissioned Officer (NCO) of the Royal Bhutan Army from Wing IX in Pelrithang, Gelephu, for an alleged rape of a 9-year-old student. The incident happened on May 12, when the girl went with her mother to the farm. RBA will also file a case against him for breaching the military code of conduct. The soldier was arrested on May 24 and has confessed to the crime.
BRAWL LEADS TO ONE DEATH IN PHUENTSHOLING
On the night of May 25, around 11pm at the lower market in Phuentsholing, two groups were involved in a fight after a heated argument inside the restaurant. A 25-year-old man was stabbed to death and other victim was also stabbed in the incident and was referred to Thimphu hospital the same night. Both the suspects are in police custody for further investigation.
TWO CHILDREN TO REPRESENT BHUTAN AT GAZPROM
Rigzin Tenzin and Kinley Yangzom, the selected 12 year old ambassadors from Bhutan will be on their way to Russia on June 8 to participate in the 6th Gazprom Football for Friendship International Program. They will be joined by kids from over 210 countries around the world, in Moscow.
TRADE OFFICER CONVICTED FOR BANNED SUBSTANCES
Chukha Dzongkhag Court sentenced a Ministry of Economic Affairs, Trade Officer to five years in prison for illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substance. Suspect was arrested on October 29 2017 after Gedu police found 70 capsules of SP+ in his jacket and tested positive for tramadol.
