MAN SEN­TENCED TO FIVE YEARS FOR DRUG TRAF­FICK­ING

A 27-year-old man was sen­tenced to five years in prison for drug traf­fick­ing by Thim­phu Dzongkhag Court’s crim­i­nal bench on Tues­day. The con­vict, Dilip Ku­mar Gu­rung from Nor­buz­ingkha vil­lage, Da­gana, was ar­rested in Thim­phu on De­cem­ber 8, 2017, with 241 cap­sules of Spasmo Prox­yvon plus (SP+).

For vi­o­lat­ing the Nar­cotic Drug Psy­chotropic Sub­stance and Sub­stance Abuse Act 2015, he was charged with third de­gree felony.

In an­other case, the Chukha Dzongkhag court sen­tenced a 36 year old man, Ugyen Dorji, to five years in prison for traf­fick­ing 352 cap­sules of Spas­mo­prox­yvon plus (SP+). He was sent to re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion for three months for 18 ta­bles of Nitro­sun 10 (N10) in May.
