THREE MEN SENTENCED FOR ILLICIT DRUG TRAFFICKING
The Punakha District Court on Monday sentenced two men, from Samdrup Jongkhar and Pemagatshel, to six years imprisonment for illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substance. The judgment states that the men had in his possession 90 SP+ capsules and other controlled substances in their possession at the time of the arrest.
In another drug case, the court sentenced a 25-year old man from Chhukha to eight years in prison. The convict was arrested from Lobesa in March this year; he was in possession of over 200 SP+ capsules along with other controlled substances.
In another incident, five men, aged between 22 to 60 years, was detained by the Thimphu Police for substance abuse and illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substance. The men were arrested on Monday following a tip-off. More than 2000 SP+ capsules were seized from the men who all tested positive for SP+ and nitrosun, except for the 60 year old man.
