THREE ACCIDENTS CLAIM LIVES
On June 30, a 42-year-old man died on impact when the Bolero he was travelling in went off 30m below the road at Tshaetajaley on the way to Daba in Nubi, Trongsa.
Seven passengers were travelling when the accident occurred around 3:15pm. While three were referred to Trongsa Hospital, other escape with minor injuries.
The main cause according to the police was the steep road, inexperienced driver and extra passengers.
Another five passengers were killed when a tripper truck with 27 passengers veered off the road at Rikhey in Samdrup Jongkhar on June 30. The incident took place around 5: 30pm. The vehicle fell about 150m below the road, according to the police. The police said that unlicensed driving and an over load of passengers could be the cause of the accident.
On July 4, a falling boulder killed two boys aged eight and one in Jumja. There were four people in the vehicle, two boys, the mother and the driver. They were on their way to Phuentsholing when the incident happened. The mother and the driver are said to be in stable condition and are undergoing treatment at Gaeddu Hospital.
