TOURIST AR­RIVALS AUGMENT

Com­pared to 116,000 tourists in 2013, there were ar­rivals of around 255,000 tourists in 2017, ac­cord­ing to Prime Min­is­ter Dasho Tsh­er­ing Tob­gay. The num­ber re­port­edly is more than a 100 per­cent in­crease in just five years.

Peo­ple’s Demo­cratic Party in 2013 had pledged that they would in­crease the an­nual tourist ar­rivals to 200,000 in the pe­riod of five years. From the to­tal ar­rivals last year, around 72,000 were in­ter­na­tional tourists and 183,000 were re­gional tourists.
