AL­LEGED BUL­LY­ING CASE IN COURT

The case of the al­leged bul­ly­ing which went vi­ral on so­cial me­dia in June has been for­warded to the Thim­phu District Court by the Of­fice of the At­tor­ney Gen­eral.

In the video that went vi­ral on so­cial me­dia, the al­leged bully is seen slap­ping an­other man and forc­ing him to kiss his shoes and pros­trate. The Po­lice in Thim­phu im­me­di­ately took up the case and ar­rested four men who were said to be in­volved.

The Of­fice of the At­tor­ney Gen­eral charged the main sus­pect with bat­tery and the other three men with fail­ure to re­port the crime. The Of­fice of the At­tor­ney Gen­eral is seek­ing a mis­de­meanor sen­tence which car­ries a max­i­mum prison term of three years for the prime sus­pect while the other three in­volved are be­ing charged with vi­o­la­tion of the pe­nal code which car­ries a fine that equals to daily min­i­mum wage rate for a max­i­mum of 90 days.
