BHUTAN BAGS GOLD AND SIL­VER AT THE WORLD ARCHERY CHAM­PI­ONSHIP

Two Bhutanese won a gold medal each and another won a sil­ver medal at the re­cently held 2nd His­tor­i­cal Archery World Cham­pi­onship in Hun­gary. Al­though the team of five par­tic­i­pated in ev­ery cat­e­gory of the cham­pi­onship, the medals were won in the long dis­tance tar­get cat­e­gory.

The His­tor­i­cal Archery World Cham­pi­onship is a tra­di­tional archery com­pe­ti­tion sup­ported by the In­ter­na­tional Archery As­so­ci­a­tion. The com­pe­ti­tion is held af­ter ev­ery two years. Bhutan also par­tic­i­pated in the first edi­tion in 2016.

More than 300 archers from 21 coun­tries par­tic­i­pated in the event. Bhutan In­dige­nous Games and Sports As­so­ci­a­tion is al­ready work­ing to­ward host­ing a sim­i­lar in­ter­na­tional com­pe­ti­tion in the coun­try next year.
