GDP GROWTH AT 4.6 PERCENT IN 2017
Opposite to a higher projection and theso-claimed “robust performance”, the country’s economy recorded a growth of 4.63 percent in 2017, a decrease of 3.39 percentage points compared to that of 2016.
However, in absolute terms, the size of economy reportedly increased from Nu 149.15bn in 2016 to Nu 164.62bn in 2017.
In 2016, the country achieved 8 percent GDP growth and was eve considered as the top three fastest growing economies in the world. Further, the International Monetary Fund and World Bank had also projected a higher growth to continue in 2017.
