GDP GROWTH AT 4.6 PER­CENT IN 2017

Op­po­site to a higher pro­jec­tion and theso-claimed “ro­bust per­for­mance”, the coun­try’s econ­omy recorded a growth of 4.63 per­cent in 2017, a de­crease of 3.39 per­cent­age points com­pared to that of 2016.

How­ever, in ab­so­lute terms, the size of econ­omy re­port­edly in­creased from Nu 149.15bn in 2016 to Nu 164.62bn in 2017.

In 2016, the coun­try achieved 8 per­cent GDP growth and was eve con­sid­ered as the top three fastest grow­ing economies in the world. Fur­ther, the In­ter­na­tional Mon­e­tary Fund and World Bank had also pro­jected a higher growth to con­tinue in 2017.
