Description

A wide-ranging investigation into possession which includes exorcism. There are 300 church-approved exorcists working in Italy alone, and the Italian Association of Psychiatrists and Psychologists claims that half a million Italians seek exorcism each year. The International Association of Exorcists was founded in 1990 by six priests including Fr. Gabriele Amorth (b.1925) who is based in Rome and still carries out exorcisms. In the USA, the term 'deliverance' has gained ground, and is increasingly popular. Deliverance has even become a sub-category of self-help, with abundant advice on casting out demons of all types without the help of a religious guide.
