Description

This is a Boundary Bay Classics edition of Die Liebe der Erika Ewald, Stefan Zweig's first major prose collection, published in 1904. The title novella follows pianist Erika Ewald, who falls in love with a violin virtuoso during shared concert rehearsals only to discover a devastating betrayal. Three further novellas — Der Stern über dem Walde, Die Wanderung, and Die Wunder des Lebens — round out the volume, exploring unfulfilled love, longing, and faith with the same psychological intensity. The collection already displays the fine psychological observation that would come to define Zweig's later, more celebrated novellas.
