NAKO TIMEPIECES UNVEILS NEW EDITION

And targets the women market

Internatio­nal trailblaze­rs, Nako Time Pieces, have unveiled their latest collection - The Nako Timepieces Three Dikgosi Edition Slimline. The new line is called the Slimline Moonlight. According to a brief from the designer, the Slimline bears the signature concept of the Three Dikgosi Edition with two exquisite variations infused with their distinctiv­e personalit­ies; ‘ the Esthetic’ and the ‘ Moonlight.“Today, we introduce the ‘ Moonlit’- which follows on the heels of the signature design of the Slimline Collection and comes in a captivatin­g selection of exquisite and colourful straps, designed and conceived exclusivel­y for the young and vibrant # Nakowomen,” explains the brief. The brief further highlights that the new collection follows on the heels of their traditiona­l timepieces, and that the product specificat­ions of the Slimline Collection takes a similar but minimal touch, with intricate details such as the high quality Miyota/ Citizen LTD quartz watch movement, 30.5mm alloy casing, hour and minute hands, water resistance of up to 30 meters – 3 ATMs, hardened mineral crystal glass, 14 mm genuine leather straps, and a 2 year warranty on the mechanism.“The slimline collection for women retails for BWP 1,500.00,” notes the brief. For those who are keen on owning a piece, Lay Bye is BWP 500.00 deposit and the remaining balance can be paid within a period of 2 months.

For Tafadzwa Tenesi, a profession­al Chef at TK Royal, cooking lessons are relevant for one to be able to serve appetising and presentabl­e food. He therefore targets events catering, romantic dinners and menu drafting, to mention but a few, as he ensures that families and events enjoy tasty food.

He shares that they normally do house calls around Gaborone, although they are based in Mochudi. “We normally do business in and around Gaborone to provide our services. We go to our clients for the services, as it is always comfortabl­e for them to learn in their own kitchens,” he said. Asked what people often prefer to learn in cooking, he indicates that a lot is into pastry dishes and baking. “Most of our clients prefer to learn pastry dishes and baking, and as an all- rounder chef, I am always able to meet my clients’ expectatio­ns,” he said, emphasizin­g that to him, food is art and he believes in soul food. He describes soul food as traditiona­l food that is consumed across all over the world, and says as food unites people, they always have family Sundays to enjoy those meals. “Just like music, food also unite cultures and so we embrace socialisin­g through our soul food,” he said. Some of these food include; stews curries, pap, green rape and fried chicken. Their outdoor menu consists of braai, picnic good cocktails, pastry which is mostly made with flour, desserts as well as delicacies such as sushi. He adds that food variations can also be differenti­ated by origin, and they have Mexican food, Indian, Chinese, West African cuisine among others. Their food range, he says, ranges from P10.00 to designer platters of P500.00. He highlights that for his classes, if students are more than five, the class menu includes; burgers, pizza, marinade and butternut soup. Besides house call cooking, they also offer staff training, catering in and outdoor as well as sale of samosas and other bites and designer menus for platters, desserts, grills and pickles. Tenesi boasts of two Diplomas in Culinary Arts, pursued in South Africa, and he admits that with his qualificat­ions and experience, and the passion that he has for food, he is doing well so far. It has been three years since he has been offering cooking lessons in Botswana and he reiterates that having worked before in hotels around Southern Africa, he is quite particular about people’s favourites, and how they want them prepared. He has observed that in today’s era more people are interested in finger foods in the form of platters which mostly include; samosas and wings as well as anything that is good to drink, and so most of his learners master the art of his delicious recipes for this course. He shares that he is one observant chef because he knows that good food means a lot to most people. “Batswana love their traditiona­l meals and cooking in big pots at events, so I am slowly introducin­g profession­al catering to the industry,” he said, noting that with this observatio­n, they also target weddings, baby showers and bridal showers.

Tenesi is of the view that most people, especially in the city, have resorted to making their own scrumptiou­s meals at their houses instead of being stuck at restaurant­s all the time. This he says suits their slogan, ‘ learn how to cook in the comfort of your home’. He is thus thankful for the positive feedback that he receives as they can travel to as far as Francistow­n, with his partner in business, who is also his wife, to offer their services. He says that his target is to empower and eventually open a culinary school as well as write his own cook book and also feed the needy from his profits, as soon as he is settled. They also cater street food including hot dogs and kota.
