THE ONE GOOD THING ABOUT TRUMP

-

As we go to press, vote counting was still going on in the United States and at one point, Donald Trump had tallied more actual votes than his rival, Joe Biden.

If Trump needs any introduction, he is the dude who says that if he wasn’t related to his daughter, Ivanka, “perhaps I’d be dating her.”

He is the dude who said on a live TV show that “sex” is what he and Ivanka have in common. He is the dude who casually remarked to people he was with when learning that a little girl he was riding a lift with was only 10 years old: “I’d be dating her in 10 years.”

He is the dude who said that former president Barack Obama so bankrupted the United States that when he took over from him in January 2017, “GDP was zero.” He is the dude who, echoing Idi Amin, said that a country could never go broke because it can always print more money.

He is the dude who deviated from an original plan to raid an Al Qaeda safe house in Yemen just so he could reverse a decision earlier made by

Obama and when the mission failed with one commando dying, blamed army generals.

He is the dude who asked those same generals if a hurricane headed towards the US could be stopped with a nuclear bomb. He is the dude who threw away a comprehensive health plan of how to deal with pandemics that Obama developed and when COVID- 199 started, said it would “magically go away” in a month or two.

He is the dude who, right up to the eve of the election, held political rallies where COVID- 19 health protocols were not observed, and according to a Stanford University study, precipitated a total of 30 000 infections and 700 deaths with these rallies alone.

Two women ( one a reporter and the other his former wife – Ivanka’s mother) have claimed that Trump raped them. So, what is that one good thing about Trump?

He has demystified the presidency by proving that you don’t need any special qualities to become president.

As a matter of fact, his example shows that you precisely need to lack such qualities to become a president. This raises the question: why do these non- special people get special treatment?
