NGONI CREATIONS COMPILED IN COFFEE BOOK

- PHEMELO RAMASU BG REPORTER

For three decades, the uniquely talented Wilson Ngoni has been writing and using his trusted canvas to tell his story. A master artist, Ngoni truly is an artist extraordinaire. Generously talented and one with the skill to turn anything into a real piece of artwork, the Kopong based artist is finally ready to share his life work in the form of a coffee table book, titled Living with the Brush.

Thebe Ikalafeng authored the preface, while Lisa Lopez Levers compiled the foreword.

Consisting of 126 of remarkable artworks in 140 pages, and ‘ randomly’ picked, only 2000 copies will be printed. A limited edition and will in future, decide the viability of printing more copies.

This he says is his way of sharing a piece of him with his followers who for years have been dedicated to his works as well as new followers. For those who might not afford a Ngoni original piece, this is his gift to them. And for those who might in the past have secured a piece or two, he wants them to expand their collection in the form of the book. Even before the book is out, those who are keen on owning a copy have already started to place orders. And by the look of things it might be sold out fast. Currently, the book is at the printers, where it is going through the final phases of production.

Made up of four chapters: Faces, Wildlife, Lifestyle as well as breath taking Meleko series, and with a cover price of P500, the book is a worthy investment for his followers or art lovers in general. In the introduction to the book, he starts off by acknowledging all of those who preciously bought his artworks, and apologises for not consulting them for using their collection in the album. This he says is because, he has no idea where most of his work is as some of the paintings were collected in the early years of his career, and that others might have changed several years over the years. His writing in the introduction, gives one a deeper insight into his feelings, the path that he has gone through and finding himself and being content with his life and feelings. Eloquently written, it is beautiful to see him sharing this
