Head of Marketing and Corporate Relations Overall job purpose
The role holder will provide strategic marketing, communications, citizenship support and helping the organisation to execute against its business objectives. They will support the country and its divisions in meeting business goals through optimising investments in brand and marketing, communications and citizenship, including leadership, integration of and accountability for those respective functions.
The incumbent will also drive awareness, preference, usage and loyalty to Absa with customer centric integrated marketing programs and initiatives.
Main accountabilities
• Understand, own and bring to life Absa brand strategy. Contribute to business growth as a key member of the Country Leadership team, by translating business requirements into marketing and communications objectives.
• Lead development and execution of in- country marketing, communications and citizenship strategy, and associated annual plans with assistance via an insight led approach.
• Drive and develop content that is on message, on brand, accurate and tailored appropriately to the businesses needs, the target audiences and channels to be used, and ultimately acting as the gatekeeper of the brand franchise internally and externally.
• Ensure implementation of integrated internal and external communications strategies, including overseeing policy, guidelines and governance.
• Oversee the development of overarching communications objectives, programme and execution plans, in alignment with the global messaging and strategy.
• Oversee the co- ordination of activities across internal and external platforms, ensuring optimal media management across all channels including strong use of data and digital.
• Provide strategic, issue and crisis communication support ( reputation management) including formal and informal environmental scanning and issues iden tification and monitoring.
• Drive and maintain marketing partnerships for Absa Africa across the regions.
• Drive the Integrated Marketing function from brief to final output, working with all business units and third party agencies.
• Implement and manage the Absa Global Citizenship agenda in country.
• Direct and implement Marketing and Corporate Affairs, ( country) Public Policy activities, including lobbying priorities, positions and strategies, aligned to those of Absa Africa.
• Monitor adherence to the Marketing and Corporate Affairs, ( country) and Group Marketing, Communications, Citizenship and Public Affairs Policies and ensure policies are embedded to ensure compliance.
• Maintain a good understanding of audience needs and issues, either through personal contact or through the Marketing and Corporate Affairs, ( country) network.
• Oversee agreed and manage service offerings; scope of work and Service level agreement with third party suppliers.
• Develop and maintain clear communication with channel owners, managing the message calendar and providing information to link with wider campaigns.
• Recruit and develop an excellent Marketing and Corporate Affairs, ( country) team, as required by business needs, uncompromising in its approach to delivery, output, excellence and professionalism.
Education and experience required
• University degree in Marketing and/ or Communications
• 10 years Technical and Leadership experience
Preferred
• Experience of working in a multinational, multi- segment, environment with matrix reporting.
• Awareness of cultural differences and varying legal/ regulatory environments.
• Fast moving consumer goods, Banking or Financial services industry related knowledge.
