KED INTERIORS BREATHES LIFE INTO SPACE

- PHEMELO RAMASU BG REPORTER

Local company, Ked Interiors is doing efficiently to transform any space, and breath new life into it. Offices, retail spaces, homes and just about any space that requires their magic, give them a try and you will not be disappointed.

Judging by the many successful projects that they have done, the company headed by Kevin D. Saseng, has been effortlessly conceptualizing high quality design proposals that catch the eye from a good distance, paired with good craftsmanship on big or small projects. The company also gives the same level of attention to small projects, as a reminder of their journey to climbing up the success ladder.

A visit to a recently opened Spa, namely Lush Escape, located in Mokolodi offers one a glimpse about the versatility of the company. Initially, when the owner of the Spa learnt about the availability of the location, she roped in the company to come and have a look, and see if this was something that could work. Charmed by the beauty of nature, and its serene settings, the Director of the Company, Kevin D. Saseng was sold on the idea and instantly jumped at the idea to work on this project. Executing and transforming the space, a causal walk around the Spa offers one a complete breath of fresh air.

The charm of the place, and every little furnishing and the colour palette of the paint is breath takingly beautiful. Calming, and not in your face, the colours do something to one’s soul. Speaking in an interview with this publication, he explains that Lush Escape was a very different setup that was primarily influenced by nature and the bushy look from the outside. He also says that they took into account the personality of the client, who is very glamorous, and stylish and their ideas for the place. Eventually, they settled on a rustic and woody type of influence.

It was pivotal that they balance the two themes. “The result is that we came up with a very calm, relaxing space that needs a tired mind for a soothing spring,” he explains.

The tourism outfit, A35 Travel & Tours deals with tour guide and tourists transfers from Maun, Kasane, Tsabong Eco- tourim Camel Park, Tuli Block, Kwadiwa Game Ranch, Khawa, Makgadikgadi Salt pans and Tsodilo Hills, to mention but a few.

Director at Pan Handle Safaris Pty ltd, through which A35 Travel & Tours operates, Motseothata Divongi tells BG Style that their initiative was inspired by nature and where they come from; the fact that Botswana is rich with lovely places that need to be reviewed for the locals and other countries to know.

“Being born and bred in Shakawe, we were exposed to the beauty of the Okavango River and obviously other lovely places around. We have always been keen to explore tourism places especially locally, and thought that it could as well be a kind of lifestyle to other people out there. We then started offering trips to a wide range of places around the country,” he said. Divongi runs this business with his brother and explains that they started in Shakawe, where they would do picnic sessions to Popa Falls in Namibia, over boat cruising moments, and later on registered in 2018 and officially started operating in 2019 with so many packages in place to ensure that they cover almost the whole country. They are based in Gaborone, where they are popularly known for their day trips around the city. These trips include Goo Moremi Gorge, Big Valley Game Lodge, Lion Park Resort, Gaborone Game Reserve, Manong Game Lodge, Matsieng Footprints, Mogonye Gorge and Mogobane Dam, among others. Divonge admits that so far most people are interested in their day trip destinations, with curfew times in place and the most frequented places around Gaborone are Goo Moremi, Lion Park and Big Valley. For their Lion Park trip, they pass through Kubla Khan for people to appreciate what’s available in the country. They do both individual and group tours and for groups they do pickups from anywhere if it is a group with a minimum of eight people, while pickups for individuals are based at their office location at Gaborone Station, Omega House, Floor 2, office 11D10. These places often have exciting activities, which Divonge says are needed for refreshing especially during the time when everything seems depressing due to the pandemic. He adds that they also do Oodi Matebeleng off- road extremes and shares that they aim at helping people see a certain perspective of life through travel. “Travel on its own is a lifestyle therapy as it relieves stress, allow people to socialise and make friends, collect new memories that are to be forever embraced as well as acknowledge cultural boundaries,” he said, highlighting that Botswana Southern lifestyle differs from the Northern lifestyle in terms of food and cultures and therefore their trips cover this aspect of experiencing different cultures for national coherence and cultural tolerance. They started operating officially with Tour De Okavango, their flagship package which is a four nights trip inclusive of two nights in Maun and two in Shakawe, with a day trip to Tsodilo Hills and another day trip to the Popa Falls in Namibia. For this package, clients choose their kind of accommodation from tent camping, chalets or house boating. This package is also inclusive of Mohembo River Bridge, with a day trip to a crocodile farm, where meat lovers enthuse in having their mouth- watering crocodile meat and boat cruising. Their other renowned package is to Makgadikgadi where quad biking lovers have the best of their time, and they have scenic flights activities for their Maun/ Kasane package which happens every month.

Divonge tells BG Style that their job adds to the GDP of the country in the tourism sector, more so that it is one sector that was hit hard by Covid. He shares that their dream is to grow and create more employment as there are so many graduates on the street from the tourism side. He adds that they wish to also have a website in place soon to be able to tap into the international market as well as acquire other licences in the tourism sector. “We wish to see ourselves being a mobile safari, whereby we leave our quantum and use a safari car for other exceptional trips and include accommodation in our services. We also want to open an office in Maun and Shakawe,” he said adding that this could only be possible if they have enough local support because for now they just operate under tight Covid- 19 protocols.
