Softball woos BOFINET for back- love

-

“Remember this is just the elapse of the term of sponsorship but not the partnership.

We acted swif t ly and already work will be starting around this important relationship which has been valued highly over the years. It’s unfortunate that we have not been able to negotiate on time before the last day of the sponsorship. We however have interesting projects which we are confident will bring BOFINET back on board. We understand that the current pandemic has affected all sectors of the economy but at some point adjustments have been made so life has to go on,” said Mosimanegape in an interview with BG Sport.

When quizzed if there are any contingency plans to see the national league having good financial backing, Mosimanegape said they have set their eyes on BOFINET. He further alluded that he believes softball will survive the pandemic and return to playing fields. “We have got no reason to believe that BOFINET will not listen to us. We are going to be engaging with them in good faith. Until then I will not talk contingency while I’m still engaged with the longtime partner who came to our rescue when we were almost losing hope. Of course we need more partners but the starting point is with BOFINET which has been there with us. Softball will definitely emerge from Covid- 19 lockdown,” he said.

With national sports associations such as Botswana Football Association and Botswana Athletics Association already having available secretariat office, many are of the view that it is the only way to run sports locally since most of executive committee members are volunteers. Quizzed if they aren’t pushing for BSA to have a secretariat office, Mosimanegape said it is not their top priority at the moment. “

It’s difficult to say we want that more especially under the current environment. A secretariat entails a lot of things and our priority right now is to see softball back in action where it was back in the years. We want to work on our league structure, official development, and leadership, international and local outreach.”
