Sapelo expands her beauty spa

- BG REPORTER

Joyce Sapelo has been in the beauty industry for more than 14 years. Very passionate about her chosen field, Sapelo is now sharing that love with her clients at the Arts of Beauty Spa. Located in Phase 2, the business that has been operational since 2016 is famous for providing top class services in the beauty industry that range from facials, pedicures, manicures, as well as bridal and baby shower makeup. In a nutshell, they offer a broad spectrum of services that fall under this industry.

The premises themselves are intimate and they are ideal for those who might be looking for a place where they are treated like royalty. Like most businesses, not only in Botswana but elsewhere, when the Covid- 19 pandemic hit, it forced her to strategise and see how she could keep her company afloat. It was then that she decided to introduce intimate sessions service. And she is not doing very bad in that department. She hosted a Mother’s Day small gathering in their garden, and is working on a grooming session for Fathers on Father’s Day. Sapelo shares with this publication that she was inspired to venture into this

business, as she wanted to be one of the few Batswana who wholly owned businesses in the industry back then. It has been five years since they opened their doors, and they have not looked back. One of their popular services, that they provide is a grooming package for brides and grooms, which also extends beyond the wedding celebration. “We give

them the opportunity to transform and breathe new life into their skins with our wide variety of services,” she says, adding that the after part of this package is equally important.

She notes that they use one of the top products namely, Ayoveda Natural Products, which is highly rated in India as well as VLCC Natural Sciences. Offering holistic services in health and wellness, they also sell an array of products under the Avoyeda range that include slimming products and skin care products. Sharing how she started in the industry, she explains that she studied Somatology, and had completed a number of courses with institutions locally and outside the country. One of these institutions include the Shannaz

Academy, where she learnt some tricks of the trade. It was during her time working at Shannaz, that she learnt one of the most sought- after services which is Agrow threading. With so many people working from home, she says that this is one of the services that have sustained her and her three permanent staff members. On days when she is hosting events, she engages temporary staff. The beauty of taking care of oneself, and going to lengths to achieve the ultimate beauty is not something new.

Royals in different parts of the world such as India were known to have used Gold powders to rejuvenate themselves and stay young. “It is on this background that our facials use minerals such as your gold and diamond. In the olden days, Queens used Gold as an anti- aging product,” she explains.

She also points out that most people would love to have an experience where a product that contains a diamond is used in their beauty routine. “When people come here, they expect a lot. And our treatment does wonders. They rejuvenate the skin and eliminate any dullness,” says Sapelo, adding that with a lot going on around us, the skin usually takes a knock.
