Arab Boxing Grand Prix scheduled for July
Following the decision by the International Federation of Arab Boxing ( FIBA) to postpone the Russian Grand Prix of Arab Boxing, which was scheduled for April 2021 in Moscow, Russia, plans are underway to host the event in July 27th 2021.
According to President of Arab Boxing Botswana Michael Poti, all is well underway and final preparations are gaining momentum.
“The international federation is working around the clock to ensure that all is in order. The event was rescheduled due to the third wave of the world health crisis ( Covid- 19),” he explained.
He revealed that FIBA President,
Heidi Sediri was in Russia for the last formalities. This will in a way ensure that all is in order by early June.
Poti noted that all participating countries have been urged to submit all required documents. “Botswana is more than ready, we will not be left out,” he said.
Botswana will be represented by two athletes under the watchful eye of Coach Thuso Molepolole. Postponement of the initial dates has given them more time to perfect their kicks. Poti is confident that they will go out and represent the country well.
Botswana will be competing at an Arab boxing event for the very first time. They are still learning and expectation is that the world event will be used as an eye opener.
