Botswana Railways has successful­ly procured 34 new wagons from China, augmenting the existing old fleet servicing Botswana Ash ( BOTASH). This is a critical milestone for this partnershi­p as the new wagons are expected to improve operationa­l efficienci­es and performanc­e of the two entities. Moreover, the wagons will mitigate transporta­tion challenges and therefore facilitate and support the overall trade growth in the rewd is proud to have played the critical role of financial advisor by assisting Botswana Railways with delivering part of their five year strategy.

The launch of the wagons was officiated by the Minister of Transport and Communicat­ions, Honourable Thulagano Segokgo, who recognized the tripartite relationsh­ip between Absa Bank Botswana Limited, Botswana Railways and BOTASH. “I wish to congratula­te Botswana Railways, BOTASH and Absa on their partnershi­p. As the Government of Botswana, we recognise the value of such partnershi­ps and their unique position in promoting both regional and internatio­nal trade,” Honourable Minister Segokgo concluded.
