Mmadinare Kitsong Centre considers expansion

- BG reporter

Customers seeking services from Mmadinare Kitsong Centre have tripled, due to the new business norm, promoting e- commerce and online trading.

With most government entities such as Companies and Intellectual Property Authority ( CIPA), Youth Development Fund ( YDF) and many others now providing services online, internet use has risen. According to the latest Statistics Botswana data, the country’s subscription for mobile internet and fixed internet increased by 6.8 percent in the fourth quarter of 2020.

For Mmadinare Kitsong Centre owner, Amantle Zuma Kasha, the new normal is a windfall, now inspiring expansion plans for his business. “Business has been thriving, I have acquired a second internet router from Mascom, as more customers now visit the Centre to access internet,” said Zuma citing that the applications for CIPA and YDF are the most common.

Apart from getting business, Kasha’s Kitsong Centre is also empowering the Mmadinare community, teaching customers how to use internet. Although COVID- 19 restrictions and protocols limit the number of people that can have access to Kasha’s Kitsong Centre at a given time, the entrepreneur is already mooting expansion plans. “I am currently thinking of opening an office or finding a big operating space due to the increase in customers, now beyond our capacity,” said Kasha. Currently, there are 110 Mascom Kitsong Centres dotted across the country, expected to bridge the gap between urban and rural communities and ICT.
