CONNIE REMINISCES MOMENTS WITH HER SHO

‘ I anticipated another 20 years with you’

- BG REPORTER

Never in a million years, did Constance Ferguson think that she would be faced with the possibility of life without her loving partner and best friend. She never anticipated that at any point, she would have to start thinking about life without someone who has been a big part of her life for twenty years. Constance, as her husband used to lovingly call her, thought that they would grow old together.

In fact, she remembers how they once saw an old couple at Cresta, and they joked about how one day they would be like that couple. They proceeded to hold hands, if they were not already holding hands, she reminisces.

“I anticipated another 20 years with you,” she said in her recorded message. Reading a message during the funeral of her late husband, Ferguson, who was barely coping, shared a heartfelt message of the kind of love that they two have shared. Theirs, she said was a once in a lifetime type of love. Many people, she said spent a lifetime without experiencing what she has experienced in the twenty years that she has been with Sho.

She also says that having nursed and seen her husband fighting his battle with Covid- 19, she has never seen someone as strong as he was. “You fought Skat. I am proud of you,” she said in her message.

She further said that she was hurting and that her heart was bleeding. And also that she was not ready for him to go. The family, she says, has always been prayerful and that during the days when Ferguson was sick, they have prayed with him, and prayed for him on the days when he could not pray. “I don’t think we have ever prayed like we did. We prayed for your healing,” said Ferguson, also noting that she is starting to see that God hears differently.

“I cannot imagine life without you. The past couple of days have been like a dream,” she said.

She also spoke of how her husband was resilient and that in everything that she did, he always advised that she must go in with both her feet or not at all. She further said that her husband loved hard, cared hard and that he loved the Lord unashamedly. She also highlighted that the twenty years that they have shared together, and the type of love that they had is something that many only dream of. “What we had most people never get to experience in their lifetime. You loved me in a way that I didn’t know that it is possible to love,” she says.

Ferguson further said that she was now coming to the realization that she had a different journey than what she had envisioned. Although she is still confused and does not know what tomorrow holds, she says that she can’t imagine life without her partner. But that she has to trust in the Lord.

“I have to trust that God sees my pain and our children’s pain. I am happy to have you as an angel,” she said, adding that she is assured of God’s love as God loved her enough to have given him to her for twenty years.
