Local Queen crowned Her Excellency International
Bongi Morata scooped the title over the weekend
The beauty queen, Bongi Marata, has over this past weekend raised Botswana flag high by securing the international title, Her Excellency International 2021.
This was a virtual competition, where the local queen who also currently wears the Miss Culture Heritage Botswana 2020 competed against other queens from different countries. Her Excellency International pageant is advocates for love and humanity, according to Marata. “Her Excellency International places a special emphasis on promoting global citizenship and reaches across multicultural communities throughout the world,” she explained. She takes pride in the fact that she scooped the first position alongside the people’s choice award.
This pageant attracted participants from 200 countries and eventually top 20 made it to the finals. Marata was flanked by two princesses, Her Excellency South Africa as the 2rd runner and Her Excellency Philippines taking the 1st runner position. She can’t hide her excitement and tells BG Style that, although e everyone else enters a competition with the hope to win, she was skeptical about winning Her Excellency International pageant.
She highlights that she was fully aware that she was up against the most beautiful ladies in the world, but kept ongoing as she believes in herself. She anticipates starting her new project soon. “In the near future I hope to start my project, which will focus on creating an environment that develops well- rounded leaders and advocate for equity in the global community,” she says, clarifying that she will be signing the contract this Saturday, regarding her responsibilities as an international queen. She reiterates that she really looks forward to pursuing her responsibilities. “This has been the best moment of my life, I never felt so determined like this before nor imagined holding this title,” she says adding that her sole mission now, is to represent the country and endeavours to reign as the best queen. She further shares that she will also represent the country, once again at the Miss Heritage International title this year in December. “I hope to get sponsors for this particular pageant too, and as well make the country proud once again, “she says.
Marata says being crowned a queen during these challenging times, where events are held virtually means a lot to her. She says this is an eye opening moment for her as she has learnt that anything is possible, despite any circumstances. She encourages aspiring beauty queens to wear their confidence and utilize any pageantry opportunities they want to be part of. “I’m impressed by the fact that Miss Botswana too has been launched, and is to take place virtually for the first time ever,” she says. Marata believes that every woman is a queen, and if Botswana ladies participate in international pageantries, they would emerge the shining diamonds above others just like Botswana diamonds.
